Hi all

I cannot recall every seeing one, but does anyone have any experience with installing a dishwasher in a kitchen island? The island is completely independent to the main kitchen and sits on a concrete floor... so would require the water feed and waste and electric burying into a (cold in the winter) floor. The run to the sink (and waste pipe) is around 1.5m-2m

thanks

I personally haven’t seen one in an island. I did however install an integrated dishwasher on the far side of the kitchen at my last house. Due to the location and the fact the kitchen had full height panels separating the lower cabinets and drawers I had to look at other options.

I used an extended water connection and waste pipe. They both connected up under the sink. I was a little sceptical but felt it was worth trying. I cut the bottom corner out of each of the panels and routed the hoses as smoothly as I could.

I picked them up from eBay if memory serves me right, it did here’s the link:

The Bosch dishwasher had a valve on the waste and water it prevented back flow. Probably worth checking

Sister has one in her place (the sink is in the island as well). V straightforward if planned for as part of the build, pain to do as a retrofit (waste especially)

Does the island have a sink as well?

Edit: just seen you mention the sink elsewhere.... Is that on the island or separate?

Sink is not on the island but 1.5m away opposite- would need to route the services under the concrete floor if I did this

IF the plan is to run the pipe out> down low> along> and up to sink height then there will always be old water in the pipe which any new water will have to push along first therefore putting extra strain on the discharge pump in the dishwasher.
