I have 4 old radiators which I have removed or replaced during renovations.
They are singles of this type :

Will a scrappy take them and furnish me with some beer vouchers or is it down the tip ?

Why not ask the scrappie? Why not rig them as solar collectors? Ebay?

I always just dump them at my local scrap dealer. Unless you can take them in by the skip load they are worthless.

I think that £80 per ton is only for "heavy steel" meaning RSJs etc.

Rads seem to have very little value but the scrappies will take them free if no one is around to ask for a payment for clearing them.

That was the original plan but SWMBO scuppered that idea with a curt "get rid of them f*****g manky old radiators out of my garden"

You could put them on Freecycle. It's free to join. Click Here to find your local Group.

And the best bit is you dont use any fuel to go to the local tip/scrappy.

Salem.

Mod: please note this is not an ad & I have no connection with Freecycle.

you would draw £10- £15, don't just give e'm, unless you don't need that money, wish you lived up my way, i buy them for scrap

I always take mine to the local scrap yard, don't want anything for them, just happy to get rid of them without having to hire a skip. Our local tip wont allow you take more that one a week, so a whole house will take some 2-3 months to get rid of.
