I want to reroute a small section of the feed and return on my oil central heating the boiler of which is some distance away. It is a Grant Multi Pass Sealed System 50/70 model.

Is this within the competence of someone who has satisfactorily done ordinary water pipe plumbing?

If so how should I shut the water off to proceed?

Plumbing central heating pipes is the same as plumbing water pipes, in most respects.

Your system should have a drain valve of some sort at its lowest point.

Thanks endecopt. Sorry for delay - weekend away. Good answer.

Presumably I will not do anything to the taps in the boiler (to prevent mains water entering the boiler and system) and when job finished screw up the lowest point valve and turn the boiler taps on to refill the system.
