Hello,

Just wondered if you have considered a for sale or or wanted forum on the site.

I have loads of bits and bats like a couple of sheets of plasterboard, and electrical switches, sockets and skirting etc that i have left over, and im sure most people both trade and DIYer have a garage full of bits that people may want to buy or give away.

Just a suggestion, wondered if anyone else had a view on this or whether it has been tried in the past on here and failed. or whether people think it might be a good way of getting shot of parts and giving people a bargain in the process.

Rob

I'm liking it... pretty good idea..

I seem to recall a similiar themed post a couple of weeks ago (in general diy or trade ?) where the poster was preposing a scheme for builders to get rid of their excess materials. That thread was deleted though :? .

and you have the right audience here... if it works, and people get wind, Admin will have an improved throughput anyway !!

There used to be a marketplace on here, it was populated by people selling this and that but mainly by spammers.

I know you are going to get spammers etc but there was an advert for double glazing from china a while back in the windows forum. So it is already happening.

I also frequent a car owners club site and I host a military forum site which has similar forums within and generally receives more genuine posts than spam.

There shouldnt be a need for the site to profit from transactions or really get involved. appart from providing a place for posts. If it increases traffic to the site then the banner advertising hits should increase etc.

The sites I frequent though stipulate rules. Including that adverts do not link to other sites like ebay or gumtree etc as in the sale or wanted request should be a post on the site.

The point I was making was that there was a marketplace and it was not popular. It only got deactivated a short while ago.
