My father used to use DIY projects as a kind of bonding exercise when I was younger. Alternatively he hated DIY and wanted me to suffer as well. He always finished projects with the words 'this is why you should work hard at school, so you pay someone to do this'. I remember once when he was late for work getting me to resize the back door. He was in a bad mood as he removed it and asked me to help him measure it. I watched him do this then helped him saw several inches off the door. Just before we finished he asked me do you think that is this sorted. I don't know why but I asked him why we were sawing at the top of the door when the problem was at the bottom. I definatelty was not laughing when he launched the door at the back wall.
