diy on ford escort wishbones

Hi
I are newbie to the site and hopefully get some tips before i attempted the job on my escort..I are looking to replacing the wishbones on my escort and i have looked in the manual but ...I would like to get some views of the people that count the ones that have done this kind of job...Any tips it is mainly so i have the right tools before i start..And the other is to get new replacement bolts. any help would be welcome..

Its a pretty easy job.

If you have a haynes manual it should tell you all you need.
Ball joint splitter will be needed as they can be a pig to split. Will also (depending on age) need a Torx bit for the balljoint retaining bolt.

It will also help if you can get someone to help you (preferably with a long steel bar) as the wishbone needs holding down to swing the front strut out of the way......... driveshaft may pop out of the gearbox so a driptray may be needed!

ball joint pinch bolts are unlikely to come out ok. get new ones anyway. only a couple of quid.

I used to change wishbones on a taxi every year, for the mot, if your doing high milage, consider buying originals
