Its because it hasn't got a BBA certificate, which is (rightly or wrongly) the only acceptable certification that some building controls accept. This is all that's stopping the approval of Tri Iso by some authorities and I'd like to know why they don't just get certification from the BBA, makes me a bit suspicious tbh.

From the post read you sound as if things are going well, and well done for that.
When you say you will be fantastically proud of yourself, you do a diservice to the kindly folk here, and your building team. This type of project is a group thing and since the help you have had from this forum has been SUBSTANCIAL please show a little humility to the folk that have helped you.
It's 2007, not 1967- please accept that equality exists and that your not the first female to do a (in the building scheme of things) a modest extension build.

BI sympathetic to Tri Iso Super 10 but needs to check with his superiors. Will be much easier if he allows me to use it instead of Celotex/Kingspan over the rafters.
I know of only one council that accepts that insulation on its own , others within the same unitary require a back up of rigid board insulation , and .
Whilst being a lot easier to install , and cheaper , i truly wouldnt put it in my house in lieu of tried and tested iinsulation .
I suspect it doesnt have approval for a very good reason , if the product did what it suggests on the tin surely the manufactuirers would be applying and succeeding in getting approval
My BC Richmond-upon-Thames just agreed for me to install Tri Iso Super 10!
Apparently on November 11th court ruled in favour of ACTIS. So called Hot Box test BR443 was decided as not relevant to this particular product and it is now cetain Tri Iso will be recognised under Part L of BR.
Today I bought my Super 10 at a fantastic price and am now looking forward to installing it over the weekend.
when i did my extension i changed all my plain tiles. i had lads in pickups knocking on my door for the tiles.
i got £450 a thousand for them and bought new clay plains at £305 a thousand. my roof looks new with no extension line and all my batten nails have been renewed. its mostly the nails that cause the roof to fail.
i hate interlocking, they look oogly. you would get back the extra cost of plains if you came to sell.
nothing wrong with feeling proud of yourself, i think that chri5 meant that you shouldnt feel less than equal but we all know that in the building world that would be hard to do. you are doing real building, not a little DIY.
So I am ready for my Tri Iso 10 to go on the roof tomorrow morning.
There needs to be 25mm gap between multifoil and breather membrane. Membrane needs to sag a bit between rafters. I am using 38x25 battens. If it sags there will be less than 25mm gap! What do I do?
BC insists that I also have 70mm Celotex between the rafters.
Rafters run around every 300m for some reason. To make things easier can I substitute it with Rockwool between the rafters? Is so how thick? Rafters are 150mm.
I believe rockwool and the like needs double the thickness of foam to be as effective. Have a look on ebay, there are some sellers that sell packs of celotex etc with free delivery at good prices.
Don't let the membrane sag too much, there just needs to be space for water drops to run down the centre of the sag, with space for the moisture to run under the batten. When fixing the membrane keep a bottle of water handy and pour it out at the top of the roof between the rafters and make sure it flows down under the battens into the gutter.
