I'm OK with electronics and general plumbing stuff. Is changing a early diverter valve somthing that I can do myself or does it have to be done by a corgi registered guy.

Of course it's OK - the only requirement is that you're competent, which can be interpreted however you like it
 
Don`t know what you mean by " early " diverter valve but it is possible to change just the head on some valves this could save you potential problems draining down (losing inhibitor ) and filling back up (air locks ) as it sounds as if you have open vented system
