the water supply to my office block is off due to a leak elsewhere - do i need to manually switch off the hot water boilers or will they take care of themselves??????
You don't give much information about the "boiler" so it's a bit of a guess here.
System boilers (identified because they have a pressure gauge) are topped up manually by opening a tap to fill them manually, so are not permanently connected to the water supply anyway.
Open vented systems with a cold water feed tank have a ready store of water there so will be OK too.
Water is only lost from the boiler circuit by leak or evaporation.
If you are referring to some other form of heater that heats water directly, rather than indirectly, the make and model or photo will assist. Most I've seen are designed so that they can't be emptied via the taps and remain full of water.
If in doubt turn them off, if they haven't stopped supplying water now, they will if there is no main supply.
