Do copper pipes need to be protected from bricks/brick dust?

I think in the past I've seen plumbers "bind up"/cover copper pipes if they were in contact with any bricks in a chased wall or brick dust because that corroded the copper - does that still apply??
If so - what should copper pipes be covered with for protection?

Any impermeable tape will do. More to protect it from the plaster that will cover it than the existing brickwork.
