Do I need a bottle gully for my 110mm underground pipe?

I am burying a 110mm teracotta pipe to take rainwater from the downpipe from my roof across my back garden.

Do I need to use a bottle gully or should I couple the downpipe directly into the underground pipe, or it is a matter of personally preference?

Note that the roof is not overhung by trees and doesn't collect any leaves.

Thanks in advance.

just fitted 2 bottle gulley for my conservatory, my theory is as long you can collect the debris from the gulley preventing any blockage in the pipe, doesn't matter if you're not near any trees, the leaves will find a way to your gulley ;)
