GIVEN that my boiler (and circulating pump) is started (and ONLY started) by one or other of the Aux switches on the radiator or HW zone valves, (and the rads are all manual valves) do I really need a bypass leg in the plumbing? if so, why?
I have one, with a manual valve on it.
it seems to me that, as the boiler/pump cannot fire/run without the circuit being closed (be it the rads or the HW exchanger) the bypass leg is not required (and for max efficiency, I should close the valve right down)
