Yes you should have an (electrical installation test sheet) passed to you by your installer, If your consumer unit is in a domestic premises then you should also let your local buiding control office know (part P building regs) and a copy of the test sheet sent to them along with proof that the installer is competent to do the work ie-: qualifications.(or your installer may be a member of a registered body(NICEIC,NAPIT or other)who will automatically confirm to building control when your installer has certified the work to them. hope this helps

Yes you should have received a full EIC and in due course (3/4 weeks) a certificate from the electricians competent persons scheme to say your installation complies with the Building Regulations.

That is not the way it works.

The electrician should provide an installation certificate to say that the works comply with BS7671. This should be a full certificate (not a "minor works" cert).

To have done this work for a third party the electrician should be member of one of the registration bodies. NICEIC, NAPIT, etc.

The registered electrician tells his registration body that he has done the work. The registration body then notifies the local authority that the work has been done and will also send a certificate of compliance to the customer. You, the customer, do not need to send anything, or pay anything. to the local authority - that is providing the guy/girl who did the work is playing the game to the rules.

How long ago was the fuseboard changed? What our firm does (we are NICEIC) is we send out in the post a nice printed up copy of the certificate rather than a rough hand written copy, so this may be what the sparks is going to do..
