Do I need permission ?

Hi,

My wife is expecting a baby in a few weeks and I want to split the front bedroom of my home with a stud partition wall so we've got sort of like a nursery .
Do i need building permission to put up such a wall, and do i need to change the home insurance details because I've created a third bedroom in my home, even though it's only accessable by going through from our bedroom ?
