Do I remove architrave?

Having our hall, stairs and landing plastered. I have removed skirting and dado rail from the walls as the skirting was very poor and dado rail was in the way of a hand rail. However the door frames are okay and will be fine sanded and painted. In fact I managed to get all of the gloss off one frame with a heat gun.

Will a plasterer find this acceptable to skim up to? Can imagine most of the plaster coming off the walls if I try to remove door frames ....

A plasterer will have no trouble at all skimming up to the door frames. Not a problem at all. As you said, trying to remove the door frames,would cause damage than it's worth.
