Do you need to test ELV installations?

I have been asked to build some control panels which will be running on 24VDC, and install them in a factory environment. I am qualified but this would be a private job and so test and inspect type stuff and certificates wouldnt be possible as I'm not working through my employer - but is there any testing requirments as it is only 24VDC? Thanks.

I've done a couple of panel builds that have been deployed in industrial enviroments (power presses)

When we took them out to the revelant firms for install, we simply had to test the Z's on the supply we were connecting to.

Obviously there are relevant British standards for the work as well.
