Whent to the Doc,s for my anti smoking drug and some other pills anyway instead of putting them on the same proscription he despenses seprate ones for each drug,Which cost me £12 odd for 2
WHATS THE CRACK HERE ...........
I used to get all my drugs on one proscription.

And the new anti smoke drugs work 18 days now smoke free.

well done in keeping the fags out of your mouth :)

prescription charges are per item so it costs the same. you don't pay for your scripts, do you?

John d what do you mean by charges are per item , why did the doc not put both items on one scrip instead he did 2 seprate ones

In England...

If you have one bit of paper that says (e.g.)

- 100 anti-blob tablets

- 6 injections

- 1 tub pimple cream

- 10 x 250ml bottles Guafenasin

that's four things (no matter how many pills, or what size tub, or number of bottles of each)

and you pay 4 prescription charges (£6.85 each or whatever it is)

the prescription charge is a Tax, it is not a payment to the doctor or pharmacist.

You would have to pay for these 4 item whether they were written on one prescription form or on four.

However, if you are a child, a pensioner, very poor or have certain chronic illnesses, you don't have to pay.

you can buy a "season ticket" prepayment card.
People who have to pay for more than 4 prescriptions items in 3 months, or 14 items in 12 months, could save money by buying a PPC, for £26.85 for a 3-month PPC; or £98.70 for a 12-month PPC that covers any scripts you need for the following year.

see http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Policyandgu...andindustry/Prescriptions/NHScosts/DH_4049383

If you want to buy one, see https://www.ppa.org.uk/ppa/ppcdd/patient.do

you pay per item up till you are 60 then everything is free but you can get a pre paid card cost £96 per year and you get as many items as you need so if you are on 2 items or more a month you save  :wink:well worth it i am on 5 so its a big saving
