Not for tunes! The M-I-L is deaf and needs good volume and clarity for both hands-free and normal use during calls.

Well, thanks a lot everybody who has contributed to this thread. I have decided to buy 2 x Moto G.

The main reasons:

1. Cost: A ridiculous £79.99 as a PAYG upgrade on Virgin.
2. Easy to get cases.
3. Water resistance.

Samsung j5 here and its a cracking phone ..No problems using it at all and I use it for video evidence and photographic evidence for my landlords

Considering one for son. He needs more than 8GB, so no good. But it would be his first choice otherwise: he has not owned anything else but Sammy.

He is considering the HTC Desire 530.

My top choice is Huawei P8 Lite but he has rejected it for being "too blocky"! I wrote all the specs of his possible choices on a sheet of paper, omitting the price and name of the phone and asked him to choose the best.

Of course, he chose the Huawei, but when he realised that was the best phone and saw it on YouTube, he started umming and ahhing.

His loss.
