What's wrong with putting the new socket on the correct ring circuit

Frantically ignoring all that scatologiy....
It could be that this socket was in a distant corner of a room with a concrete floor and there just happened to be conduit running down the wall...
Come to think of it, how on earth did that happen (in a wee room in my house)? They must have decided to track down the wall instead of across the floor. Weird. But then they also wired the boiler to the lights and crossed live and neutral between front and back of the house
