Can anyone suggest a way of fitting a lock to a sliding bathroom door?

I will be fitting the screwfix sliding door mechanism to a fairly basic wickes door. I was thinking of mounting a standard offset/cranked door bolt on the wall adjacent to the sliding door. This could work but I would like to find a metal plate to screw into the door for the bolt to slide into. Anyone know where to get a plate like this. Ideally a small oval plate in chrome with a hole the correct diameter for a matching slide bolt.

Any other suggestions welcome. Thanks

Craig

There's probably a proper solution but I've seen a bolt being used vertically into the wood above the door. I've also seen a hook and eye as a solution or a hook-over catch (cabin hook) would do the same.

quite expensive

on sliding railway doors, and patio doors, you often get a sort of hook that latches over a bar in the frame, and you lift the hook to unlatch it.

You could modify a suffolk latch to do that by cutting a slot in the bar to drop over the keep.

A radius on the end of the bar would make it latch 'automatically'

A suffolk latch can be 'locked' by putting a peg through the staple above the bar.

what will work depends on type of door, if a true pocket door then the ironmongery direct lock is the best I have used, if a bit expensive and needs to be fitted carefully as it has little tolerance(holesaw and router for the mortice)
