Can anyone enlighten me as to which are best/most appropriate - ball-bearing hinges or phosphor washered hinges? (If there is much of a difference that is). I'm replacing door furniture (4" hinges) throughout the house and never knew there was so much choice in humble hinges.

For hardwood doors especially, the brass washered ones look grand and will be amply strong enough, especially if you use 3 per door - I think the ball bearing ones are stainless steel hinges, but could be mistaken.
John :)

BB the ones i've seen are stainless steel, John. I'm looking for satin finish which is how I came across them.
