Possible to "repair" door hinge?

SO.....
Yesterday I removed the new hinges, put the OLD hinges back on the door, dowelled/glued all the holes in the frame, cut a bit more (vertically) from the rebates so I could position the hinges a few mm higher, then drilled new (slightly higher up) holes and refitted the door/hinges higher up. Job done. Phew.
