Door won't lock

I have a Merc A140. I noticed today that when I press the key remote all the doors lock apart from one of the back doors.

I've got kids so it could have been disastrous.

Is this generally an easy fix or a job for a mechanic?

I've just done an M270 (4x4 I think) - maybe yours is similar - and I can confirm that its not a bad job to do, but the exterior door handle has to come off and its fixed by a screw from the inside.
Just the usual door card off, window runner shifted etc.

I was fortunate enough to get some pdf's from iwaters - thanks to Ian the job was much easier, especially to find the whereabouts of hidden screws, etc!
To remove the door card, the door pull handle had to be taken off, plus a screw or two under some badges. With that out of the way, and disconnecting switches, speaker wires etc the innards were exposed.
I had to remove the window vertical runner (rivetted) and the inner polythene sheet to get at the lock and handle screws. The air bag can be left alone. The trickiest thing was squeezing the old lock out of the door - it had to be inverted and twisted sideways if I remember well. All in all, not too bad a job.

If you aren't happy, an independant garage will help you
If you still aren't happy, Mercedes Benz will cheerfully remove a kidney for you
