dotting and dabbing

Anyone got any tips or advice for dotting and dabbing?
What size of plasterboard to use? How do you get good results on a very bumpy wall? I have just plasterboarded the ceiling and had it skimmed, and the plasterer said I would be better off dotting and dabbing the walls.

do a search on dot and dab, theres plenty of advise.

for best results used a metal straight edge and a level, always level your first board, mark out where each board is going to finish so you don`t waste any sticky,
