Hi, I currently use an oil boiler for central heating and hot water. The heating is pumped and hot water storage cylinder. Also I have an coal fired stove in my lounge for extra comfort. Is it possible/worthwhile to connect the coal stove back boiler to existing oil fired boiler hot water pipes. My current coal stove has not got a backboiler but I could change it for one that is so fitted. Thanks for any advise.

It is possible but not worthwhile, because there are a number of disadvantages.

These have been debated at length on this forum, and affect the running of fuel burning stoves when heat is removed using a water heat exchanger.

The most honest fuel burning stove manufacturers will mention these in their brochures, so you can take an informed decision.

IMHO the best way to use a fbs is in a large space to heat it directly. If you try and take that heat elsewhere in pipework, it becomes problematical.
