Hi,
I'm interested in buying a property in Manchester which was repossed (so I am told - there's 'do not use' tape all over the house like a crime scene but I'm told its normal) and needs alot of work doing to it - mainly decorating with probably skirtings etc.
However, I am most concerned about the UPVC double glazed windows, whether they were badly installed or the workmen left without completing the job (though the windows don't look very new), I don't know. The problem is that the black rubber-seals between the glass and the window frame edges (looking from inside the rooms) are missing from some of the windows, some just hanging out loose etc.
I would like to know whether these seals are likely to be replaceable or will I need complete new windows or sealed units (which will cost alot - can anyone give me a rough idea of how much it could cost on 3 bed semi-detached house for new UPVC windows and doors?).
Also, does anyone know (from personal/relative/friend experience) of any good but reasonably priced UPVC firms in Manchester (as I am not from Manchester)?
Any help/suggestions gratefully appreciated.
Thanks, Ash
