Not sure if this is the best place to post for this - anyway....
I am going to be fitting an original 1930s front door that I have purchased that looks similar to the following:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Stained-Glass...oryZ4771QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Only problem I have is that I want to:
1) Replace some of the outside glass panels as they have broken, and
2) Encase the stained glass lead panel in a double glazing style enclosure.
I was thinking of doing the following:
1) removing the outside broken glass that runs 2-3 inches all the way round
2) getting a stained glass specialist to replace it with one that gives me a final panel size thats around 1 inch smaller than the hole in the door
3) giving the panel to a double glazing specialist who could put it inside of a circular double glazing panel thats will be made exactly to the diameter of the door.
Do you see what I mean ?
For security and insulation reasons I really dont want to just get the stained glass repaired.
Any thoughts ??
p.s. I am fairly handy and given the tools / materials I would be more than happy to have a go myself if I can get my hands on the right stuff !?!?
