Double layer insulation on laminate

Hi All, new member but regular visitor, please go easy

I am looking to lay some laminate flooring. This is onto a concrete ground floor, which has been self levelled ready for installation.

I have purchased some foil backed 'high performance' insulation from wickes for underlay throughout. I am aware this supposedly has some heat qualities whereby the foil reflects/deflects the heat.

However, I was considering a second layer of the green fibreboard type insulation to lay on top of the foil type, then go on with the laminate. To add more heat insulation mainly as my concern is the cold coming through the floor.

Would this have any effect? Or would the two layers act against one and other and have the opposite effect?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Laminate is designed fur underlay layers unto 4-6mm maximum. Anymore than this or too soft an underlay and there will be excessive flex in the flooring resulting in damage to joints and the appearance of the floor.

Best to fit underfloor heating if you want a 'warm' floor although it would be a little warmer than a vinyl flooring with the underlay area. The primary reason to have the foil layer is it's a damp membrane attached to the underlay, so quicker to install than the separate polysheet underlay films.

oh right ok yes that makes sense.

I had considered underfloor heating but the cost put me off really.
