I think you'll be suprised at how much light that the lights give off!
Fitted 9 to a similarly sized dining room for a friend and WOW!!
After we removed our welding goggles...
I also fitted a dimmer controller (Lights were 240 volt GU10 type), but remember to use a suitably rated dimmer. With GU10 you have to double the rating.

E.G. 8 x 40 watt = 320 watts ; dimmer has to be rated at 640 watts. (I used a 1,000 watt rated unit)
You will probably have to source one from an electrical supplier like Denmans for example.
