i live in flat consisting whole roof space old building. my ceiling is therefore the shape of the roof, i want to put a small plasterboard fillet down the middle and put in a row of downlighters, the lights will therefore be let into an enclosed plastered triangle, question is do i need fire proof downlighters or can i use normal? also want to put spots in another room that has a small roof void with insulation above, what do i have to do for this? hope all clear

How will this "small plasterboard fillet" be constructed? Have you a diagram?

i thought i would put a small angled batten along each side of angled roof line, put plaster board across, no more than a foot and then replaster over. this will give a flat base for downlights and produce the sealed triangle for top of lights.

Well whatever you do you dont need fire rated downlighters.

They are to stop the flow of fire between dwellings. You clearly have no other dwelling above your flat.
