I am do a bathroom re fit for the outlaws and they want downlighters in the ceiling. The bathroom is a ground floor flat roof extension. The roof joists are six inches deep. What are the regs on down lighters in this situtaion. I have fitted them before but not where there has been a flat roof. Do I need to use fire proof hoods with them? If so can these be fitted through the hole in the ceiling? Would I be better with low voltage ones? I now about zones etc just unsure what is right with this flat roof issue.

Many Thanks

No you dont need fire hoods.

Advise them to consider more eco-friendly lighting solutions. Read this for info on this.

CFL lamps (see link) run a lot cooler and are therefore more suitable for mounting in insulation.
