Hi all,

May seem a silly question but I want to change my GU5.3 downlight holders and noticed that the new ones do not have a bracket for the connector to screw into. Can I just push the connector into the ceiling, just worried about fire risk.
Thanks in advance.

PIC 1 is old fitting
PIC 2 is new fitting without bracket
PIC 3+4 is connector.

The one on the right needs to be re-terminated so the outer sheath is clamped not the inner conductors. They should be ok to push up into the void as they are clamped and the terminals covered.

How have you managed to buy new light fittings without all of the components for the wiring and lamps?

The production of halogen lamps of that style will cease from the end of September 2021.

Thank you Chivers

Does the black housing screw or clip on the top of the white fitting

I would use GU10 fittings and do away with the transformers.
