Downlights Advice On Which One To Buy

How did you sort the overload on the last lot yo fitted

I will let others give you a hard time about
1. downlights in general
2. you inability to take advice when its given in your best interests.

PS i'm surprised that you manage to trip an RCD with an overload..

Anyway, back to your question.

The very first downlight job I did, I went for cheap, pressed downlights.
Never again. Even the act of pushing the securing clips into the ceiling will bend the little suckers - then they do not sit flat on the ceiling.
Go for cast. Or better, don't install downlights at all.

Thanks a lot - So the cast metal ones are better?

The cheapest I can find are four for £13 in Wickes

Are there any better value ones??

Also it is not the RCB that trips but the MCB that trips - I think thats the right terminology ! The little circut breaker needs to be pushed back up
due to overload!
