Hi all want to put 4 downlights in the ceiling of my bathroom 2 of which need to go over a wetroom. The ceiling height is 2.6m

Do I need ip44 for the wetroom lights and ip20 for the others?

I did check the bathroom zone plan but am a little confused

Thanks for any help

Go for all ip65 you can’t go wrong then and there is no real difference in price or appearance.

Ip44 is the min recommendation for zone 1.

so I can use any old downlights then?
As well as any IP requirements, you need to think about what happens when you make a swiss cheese out of your bathroom/wetroom ceiling.

That steamy atmosphere will get drawn through the downlight into the loft area. There it will settle on the joists, fester, generate mould and can rot the timber.

Find downlights that comply with building regulation Part C (resistance to contaminates and moisture).

Then you'll have to consider what will happen to that nice deep loft insulation that keeps your house nice and warm. Many downlights need to breathe, or they die. This might mean that you have to chop away a lot of insulation, creating cold areas on your ceiling. You'll then get condensation patches on the ceiling, due to your steamy atmosphere.
There are some downlights that can be covered with insulation materials. Maybe those would be the better choice?

The answer is NO.
