Hi All,

I'm replacing the concrete slab floor in my downstairs cloakroom as its foundation is settling causing the slab to drop; about 40mm so far and still moving. I've removed the old slab, replaced its foundation with well compacted rubble and I'm almost ready to pour the new slab.

The top of the new slab will be about 100mm lower than DPC (the original FFL) and will have a timber floor on top, bringing the FFL back up to DPC level. This means 100mm of the block work below DPC will be exposed above the top of the new slab. Hope that all makes sense?

Can anyone tell me if it is necessary (or a good idea) to seal the new DPM to the newly exposed block work below the DPC, if so, how is this best done?

Regards.
