Hi
Is there a quick way of draining a heating system ? I need to fix a leaky radiator pipe. The leak is from the rising pipe at the valve end, and the scale is builiding up where it's leaking.
Thankyou

you can buy a freeze spray which will give you about 20mins but it's extra expense surely quicker and easier just to drain down?

:) There are several ways to drain the system....If you have a fairly new boiler if may incorporate (in a sealed system) a pressure valve which can be opened to release the water ( only good if the radiatior in question is higher than the level of the bioler). The most common method is to use the drain valve which should be located at the lowest run of the pipework. Just open and let the water drain out ( opening the bleed valves on the radiators as its doing so...starting from the highest).
When bleeding air out, begin with the lowest radiator and work to the highest.
