Hi All,

New here so hello and thanks in advance for any info or help people may share over time.

Im currently doing a Front Garden remodel and im a bit confused re the Drain system.

The centre roof rainwater pipe (underground) in the middle of the two properties (semi detached) is currently 95 % blocked. Does this generally run into the sewer system on these types of properties or a soak-away?

I have dug around the grate and can see a large u bend ceramic pipe that looks to go down into very hard concrete.

The property is lower than the street so if it does go into a sewer it must join very low.

appreciate any thoughts...

The trapped gulley or rest bend sits on a pad of concrete to prevent it from dropping.

Reach into the gulley and hand clean the trap/bend.

Look for a nearby manhole cover and lift it. Then pour or hose some water down the gulley, and observe if and where it comes out into the manhole.

Pic down the m/h and post on here. And pic the RWP and guttering. Its possible that they are leaf debris blocked.

If there's no water discharging into the m/h then the drain is possibly a sump drain - you would have to locate the sump and clean it out - and back clean from the sump up the drain pipe.

Thanks guys.

Have lifted all manhole covers and there is no discharge when i put a hose into the drain..

The actual flow rate from the drain it self is very slow.

Looks like a call to dynorod or the like may be in order.

cheers

If you go that route, dont use Dyna Rod or Rooter etc try for a local plumber who drain cleans.
