Hello from a Newbie!
Back in '66 my old Dad (God bless his soul
) installed a Drayton Theta electronic proportional controller in my Ma's house. The hot water is gravity fed, controlled by a Cyltrol valve. The central heating is inside/outside control. ie; There is an outside temp sensor and a ch flow temp sensor. The temp of the water to the rads is varied by redirecting the return water back through the rads via a 3 way mixing valve controlled directly from the Theta Controller. This was considered a very Hi-Tech system in it's time. Now my Question. The Theta controller is "ticking" and my Ma seems to think it isn't working as it should. I would assume a new Controller would be rarer than rocking horse doodah. I would like to update the controls to something newer. Obviously just fitting a 5/2 programmer and a room stat is going to require a fair bit of reworking of the pipework. Is there a modern inside/outside controller available? Or would it be worth my while changing out the sensors (They are just thermistors), and maybe having a dabble inside the controller to see if any resistors, etc need replacing? I have a spare controller, but my Dad marked it up as "blows fuses". Sorry for the long winded post. Thought I'd get all the facts down!
TIA!
