I've fitted drayton 15mm trv4 with reducer onto 8mm microbore. I've put the valve heads on setting 4 and the radiators heat up then switch off and the rads go cold and room goes cold but doesn't seem to switch back on but if I remove the valve head then the radiators get very hot

Yeah it's getting air flow the radiators are under the window but we have got blinds

Can you post a photo of the valve and the surrounding area?

This is the radiators

Could be faulty trvs but maybe speak to Drayton technical? I don’t see an issue with the installation

Hand tighten is correct and fine, these TRVs seem to have a lockshield type adjustment incorporated which requires a special tool to set up, according to the attachment but still shouldn't IMO, cause this on/off problem. Remove the actuator and look down very closely on the plastic top of the valve, you might see a slot with a number opposite it. Are all the TRVs behaving like this or have only got one Drayton TRV4?

Hi no its just 3 rads upstairs the downstairs rads I have got all set on max setting and try are working on max setting yes I've used the drayton tool

Any idea of what the setting(s) are now, is this internal "lockshield" fully opened and if so what number is it showing?. Normal TRV's will control pretty well as long as the boiler is firing continuously, I've used EPH for years, nothing special but they do give excellent control, maximum setting on these is 5 and a setting of between 2.0 and 3.0 gives me room temps of 16C to 22C, all are installed horizontally, on the rad(s) return as I reckon this gives a more representative room temperature but this has nothing to do with your problem which seems to crop up fairly regularly.

Hi I've tried all the setting and now I've got them on setting 6 and balanced them using the lockshield valve i might order a new trv head and see if its the heads that are faulty the valves are install vertical
