Hi all,

We have an armitage shanks/ideal standard toilet which has an inlet valve that wont shut off properly so water dribbles into the toilet bowl.

We bought 2 diaphragm washers from different places but for some strange reason neither of them work so we've had to put the old one back for now because the dribble is only slight.

The new ones we've tried look identical but dont even come close to working and stopping any of the water coming through the inlet valve.

What are we doing wrong ? ...any advice would be appreicated.

John.

show us a pic.

if it's their copy of a Torbeck, it is prone to dirt and grit so you take it apart and wash it in soapy water. reassemble with the needle in the white hole.

or fit a new Torbeck.

This is what the washer looks like :-

It's the one on the right hand side with the red needle - Plumbsure Rubber diaphragm washer.

We bought one from B & Q, and one from toiletparts online, both are identical in every way but they just dont work :(

I think those valves have changed and the later washers won't fit the earlier valves although they look similar. My advice would be to change the inlet valve for a fluidmaster pro.
