Hi

What is the best way? Adding an external security light. Is it best to go from the outside, roughly estimated where the cable entry will be (want it in a top corner or a built in wardrobe)?

Or, drill from the inside at the desired location?

Thanks

If you have a desired location inside the house where you want the cable to exit through the wall, drill from inside to outside otherwise pound to a pinch of S*** it'll be miles away from where you want it (been there done that  )

Thanks for replying - just wary about shattering the brick when coming through.

Use hammer through to the cavity then if the brick work is soft enough take the hammer off.
Or
Use a small masonary bit on hammer all the way through then go up a size with the drill bit this will lessen the flaking to the external brick work.

To avoid bursting the brick on the outside - use little pressure - let the drill do the work - and use a smaller drill size first then use a larger one. May take a little longer but gives a cleaner breakout.

And slope the hole slightly so the outside is lower than the inside. Reduces chance of water getting to the inside wall.

If you can drill all the way with a small drill then make the larger hole from the oustside into the cavity reduce break of brick. Then do the same from the inside.
