If I replace (not cover) the fascias around a felted flat roof with upvc, do I need drip battens as with wooden fascias? I'm figuring that if the purpose of the battens is to protect the fascia from water, it wouldn't matter with upvc... There are no gutters.

The idea of the drip is to stop the rainwater spreading back to the soffit area. As long as the fascia bottom is at it lowest point away from the soffit then the rain will run off with no problem. If the fascia is flushed to the wall then ignore above and just run a sealant at the bottom of the fascia.

Thanks masona

Sorry to be thick but I'm not clear what you mean by that

As long as the bottom of the fascia board is not level with the soffit board and goes past the soffit board.
