Have a dripping bath shower mixer tap. Have watched 2 videos on repairing. One say use a 12mm hex key, take cartridge out and replace o rings. Other says replace washer on taps. Which is it?
Also the cartridge video shows unscrewing the cap of the diverter but mine just seems to spin and doesnt unscrew?

If the tap itself is dripping then it's either the hot or cold valve that needs changing, nothing to do with the diverter (the bit that just spins on top of the spout).

If the taps are 1/4 turn then they need ceramic type valves. You'll need to take the valves out and check the type for the size/number of splines.

Alternatively a bath tap reviver kit could be used.

Thanks. It drips out the aerator but if i unscrew the shower pipe then it drips from there.
Do i need to isolate the water if taking the valve out? I see a small plug on the back of the taps so assume i put a small hex in there to take the top off?

Yes, always isolate hot and cold.

There could be a grub screw at the back, holding the tap head on, correct size of Allan Key should remove.

So i bought a new cartridge which has stopped the drip
BUT the tap now turns outwards to turn off instead of facing forward. Are they adjustable?

Was it a ceramic cartridge?

Which cartridge did you replace? Was it the cold or the hot? Did you buy the relevant cartridge? Ceramic cartridges are handed, which means there's a type for the cold and a different type for the hot, they are mirror images as they open with rotation in the opposite way (from each other).
So, you've bought a cartridge with the wrong direction of rotation to open, for whatever you swapped.

This is what i bought. Its the only ones i found with the right measurements on. I just replaced the cold

So just to make sure, you did fit the new cartridge with the blue ring on the bottom to the cold?

If so, and if you bought a pair of cartridges, changing it for the new hot cartridge with the red ring might solve your problem, as the two cartridges open in opposite directions of rotation. I'm not 100% on that but I think it might work.

Whatever cartridge you installed closes on anti-clockwise rotation, and the other cartridge in the pair will open on anti-clockwise rotation.

It was blue i removed and blue i added, but it eas off amazon so probably cheap chinese crap. Will try the hot. Thanks
