Edit: added another picture. Would prefer to buy a new insert, can anyone please advise which one it is?

Hi,

I’ve got a dripping hot side mixer tap. I assume I can fix it with a washer?

Before I try to fix it and take it apart and maybe break it, any guidance on what the issue is, what to buy and how to fix it please?

Thanks,

Paul.

Looks like a quarter turn ceramic cartridge.

You could try soaking in vinegar overnight which may sort it but more than likely you'll need to replace it.

Dont muck around with it. Just replace with a good branded new tap.

Would agree but we will be replacing the kitchen next year so just want to fix it until then. The access to it underneath is also a pig.....

There are lots of different valves out there.
(These can be expensive)
Take your photos and any other information to the plumbers merchant. Private ones are the best. They seem to know their stuff. If your lucky you will get a replacement valve. . At worst you will spend a lot of time and not find what your looking for.
Ill guess you will end up replacing tap. If you do just buy a tap that you can reuse with your new kitchen.

Presume they are 1/4 turn valves. If so and yours are standard valves then the ones in your link should work. Can always take them back.

Here it is!

Thats half the battle... Take that with you and hopefully you will be lucky.

Take the tap head as well

Fixed! Went to Screwfix, the linked ones fitted, drip gone. All before breakfast :).

Although the new one is very stiff. Any ideas for freeing it up?

All sorted. Took it apart again and there was another washer stuck in there. All sorted.

Thanks everyone!
