Dropped Kerb width

Is there any maximum allowed width for a dropped kerb? Ive got a couple of quotes lately and both say 4.5 meters is maximum width, but is a lot shorter then party wall to party wall which is 6 meters.

My neighbour got his done by the council about 10 years back and his is party wall to party wall.

There has to be a bit of non dropped kerb at reasonable intervals to avoid causing issues for pedestrians. Eg it wouldn't be clear where to stand in safety.
This may not have been applied in the past, at least not consistently.
