I have drips from both sides of radiator where I screw the plug in with a tail that the valve tightens in to

I put approximately 20 wraps of PTFE tape around the thread before tightening it. Any idea what may have happened?

On a sidenote, how far do you tighten this thread into the radiator, I’m always worried about over tightening

Cheers

NOT a plumber
BUT replaced quite a few radiators and have been caught out by not putting enough ptfe tape around
i also now tightened quite hard as again , i have been caught out where i have been to aware of over tightening , and undertightened - pretty much on all the plumbing i do , this was locking down a Rad valve

Ok so I’ll wrap the hell out of it and try again. If not I’ll use lock tite 55

The picture is very blurry but it looks like a lot of the PTFE tape has come out as you screwed the tail into the radiator. This is because you've wrapped it the wrong way. It needs to be wrapped so it's forced into the direction of the thread as you screw it in.
