Leaked, but not much, after refill attempts having "run" for a day or so with no water in it. Tenant finally noticed the 300litre cyl had run cold...

I won't be able to find out where until the rad pipe which burst is fixed, but it isn't the AAV and it isnt obvious. Drips (1 in 6-10 seconds) came from LHS of case. By the time I got there everything visible inside looked very clean. (Obviously dry , it was still very hot!).
I've heard of these leaking in difficult places but so far not had the pleasure. ANy clues where to look?
It's the Icos System, not a combi.

The most likely candidates are the left hand side plate on the heat exchanger.

Or most likely under the heat exchanger on the right side a copper pipe is visible, this runs to the left and exits the boiler.

You will see white staining on pipe/bottom panel of boiler. Wtr runs down pipe and leaks from the left grommet where the pipe exits.

Does this make sense?

Add to those two condensate dripping back in through a badly sealed flue manifold.

It only started leaking after the landlord put the pressure back up (1.5 bar) after the dry fire. So the dry fire may have made something fail, or the cold water going into the hot casting. I told him to leave it for "hours" to cool but he's impetuous.

That "left plate" did look suspicious. How long to get the "heat engine" out  ? Do Ideal do a fixed price fix?

If the boiler has dry fired I would be almost certain that the seal has perished on the left side.

It probably wont be noticeable until the boiler is hot.

Our guys take approx 2hrs to replace the heat exchanger. Ideals charge a fixed price including parts (excludes heat exchanger).

Hope that helps
