see my original posting re condensation in loft- what is the best way to dry this area out as everything is getting damp!
dont think a dehumidifier will work as is too cold- any thoughts please?
have I got to resort to having builders in to fit gable vents etc? or if i dry it out will it be ok

your loft sounds very damp. have you checked to make sure that the vent from a bathroom extrctor is not discharging straight into the loft? it should be vented to the outside.

No the bathroom extractor is going outside.
Do you think I will have to remove all the insulation, put down foil or other barrier and replace rockwool back on top?
Can I remove all the bitumen felt from under the tiles and just let the moisture vent out through gaps in tiles?

Sound like you're not getting any air-flow change.Have you got soffit vent under the fascia board,if not can you put 9"x6" air vent between 2 walls, failing that you can get roof ridge vent or roof tile vent which the felt have to cut out correctly underneath to stop the rain coming in.(eg broken tile above it.)

Seems like you've got the same problem as me. I'm trying a dehumidifier and it removes 5 litres every three days yet it is still damp in the loft. My loft is very low - army crawl required within loft space. We have our house quite hot most of the time - do you think that the existing (probably quite old) lagging is not working? Could this be one of the problems?

now learnt that eaves to eaves ventilation is not adequate.Best to have eaves to ridge. Have cut bitumen at top to give air somewhere to go- seems to be helping. Will get round to fitting roof vents to help cure it.Suggest others do same.
