Drying out roof timbers

Hi,

I have had my roofer back today who is redoing a the tile between the Hip & the Ridge and also putting some cement under a couple of tiles that are sticking up. If that doesn't work he thinks the only option will be to strip off the tiles and laths, then refelt & recover. Does this sound reasonable?

Thanks

Stephen

I would have said stripping the roof off and re doing it would be the only way to go, the valley detail is wrong and the top batten is not close enough to the ridge to give a weather tight finish where the ridge tiles over lap the roof tiles. putting some cement under a few tiles that are sticking up will achieve very little mate.

Cheers

Steve.

Thanks. If it does need reroofing do you think I can have any sort of claim against my surveyor (i only bought the place 6 months ago) as the only comments he made on the roof was the felt was untidy & the ridge / hip needed repointing?
