I've filled some socket holes in walls in a victorian house using undercoat plaster (essentially bonding plaster from what I understood!). The holes are either around existing sockets where the electricians knocked loads of plaster our, or fillig a removed docket in a lath wall. They are around 30 mm and in some cases up to 40 mm deep. In retrospect I should probably have filled the gaps with plasterboard and then bonded/skimmed over the top but I've done it now. I was sure that it can be applied this thick in a single layer but now questioning myself on that.
Question is how long will the plaster take to dry before I can fill and paint over it? I have a tight deadline to get the work done (few days!) before the carpet fitters come and need to know realistically how long its going to take to dry before I can crack on. Its been 36 hours now and it still looks rather wet. I thought bonding plaster was quick to dry, even when on thick. I presume to fill over the top (no finishing plaster, definitely no time for that to dry) will need the undercoat to dry completely first.
Thanks in advance
